VINELink is the public access point for VINE, a service that distributes custody status and movement notices from participating agencies. Idaho Department of Correction participation is confirmed. Lincoln County is more complex. The Sheriff books and may briefly hold a person in Shoshone, but Lincoln has historically used beds outside the county. Current public sources do not name the contract jail or confirm that Lincoln itself appears as a live VINE source.

That distinction controls the search. An IDOC record applies to a person under state correctional jurisdiction. A county arrest may instead be reported by Lincoln, by the jail that physically housed the person, or not appear under the source a searcher expects. Open the matching result and read its agency before drawing a conclusion. If no Lincoln result appears, call the Lincoln County Sheriff and ask which facility held the person on the relevant date.

Begin with the strongest identity facts available. Exact spelling helps, but common names require more. Use a middle name, suffix, birth year, case number, booking number, or agency identifier when the service displays it. Do not choose a record only because the surname and state match. 2. Select the person search and enter an exact name or known identifier.
3. Compare every available identity field instead of relying on the name alone.
4. Open the result and note the reporting agency, custody status, location, and event date.
5. For a Lincoln arrest, confirm whether the source is Lincoln County, the named contract jail, or IDOC.
6. Save the search time, then verify a reported release with the agency that held the person.

Lincoln County VINELink Fields

Labels can change with the source feed, and not every record exposes the same fields. The most important task is to separate identity data from custody data. A name helps locate a candidate. The reporting agency and event status explain what that agency has reported.

“Released” is system-specific. It means the reporting source ended custody, but another agency could have accepted the person. Idaho VINE Service Restored

The later IDOC restoration notice resolves an important source conflict. IDOC reported that VINE service returned on March 6, 2024 after an outage. The notice confirms phone, text, email, and mobile-app notifications. Older Commission pages may still contain outage wording, so the later dated IDOC notice is the better source for current restoration status.

Lincoln County Alert Timing

A VINE message reports the event supplied by its source. It may arrive close to the custody change, but it is not a certified timestamp from the jail log. Administrative updates can lag, and a phone or text notice may reach a recipient after the person has moved. Record the alert time and the event time separately. Then ask the holding agency for its release or transfer entry.

The legal order and physical exit can also occur at different times. A court may authorize bond or dismissal before staff finish warrant checks, property return, transport, or other release work. Conversely, departure from the Shoshone holding site can precede arrival at the contractor. Build a short chronology with the court action, Lincoln transport entry, receiving-jail entry, VINE alert, and final release log. That sequence prevents one date from being mistaken for another.

VINE is best treated as a timely alert channel. The releasing jail’s log is stronger evidence of the physical event. Lincoln County Search Limits

VINELink does not replace every custody system. Federal Bureau of Prisons cases use the BOP locator. Federal pretrial custody may require the court docket and the appropriate agency record. Immigration custody uses ICE channels. The Idaho sex offender registry covers only people within that registry’s scope and is not a general release database.

Data can lag. Alerts can also describe a transfer rather than community release. If a person is not found, retry supported name variants, check the agency, and ask Lincoln which jail held the person. For an IDOC case, compare the public status. “In community” means active state supervision. “Discharged” means the state sentence reached its terminal public status. Neither label should be substituted for a county jail release log.
