The form states that the office will notify the requester if it cannot complete the request within three days, but it publishes no fixed photo fee or blanket promise of disclosure.

For an Idaho resident, the first two labor hours and first 100 paper pages are generally free under Idaho Code §74-102. A narrow request cuts both cost and mistaken identity. Seek one person, one short date range, and named records. Agencies generally need not create a new report or explain why an event occurred. Ask for the existing photograph and entries, not an analysis.

The official Sheriff page links Facebook and OffenderWatch, not an inmate or jail app. Facebook is not described as a complete booking or release archive. OffenderWatch is continuously available, but it serves the sex offender registry and does not cover all people released from jail.
This distinction matters because a social post or registry photo can look like a substitute for a booking database. It is not. Use the IDOC public-records portal to request a photograph specifically. Match the request with the IDOC number, birth year, sentencing county, and case number where possible. IDOC can apply exemptions. Its photograph also documents the state correctional record, not necessarily the earlier county booking in Shoshone or at a contract jail.
A “Discharged” IDOC result means the state sentence was satisfied. “In community” is active state supervision. Neither term proves that a photo is current, and neither establishes what happened in a separate county or federal case.
Lincoln County Mugshot News Sources
Lincoln County’s community resources page identifies the Times-News, Idaho Mountain Express, and Lincoln County Chronicle as local news resources. A news report may preserve a public image after an agency page changes. It may also identify the arresting agency or case date needed for a focused records request.
News remains secondary evidence. Publication timing can lag, captions can omit a later disposition, and an old photograph can be reused with a new report. Confirm the identity and event through the Sheriff, the contractor that held the person, or the court case. Do not infer present custody from the continued presence of an article.
Commercial mugshot-publishing and pay-to-remove sites are not reliable official channels and are not linked here. The official record path supplies clearer provenance and a custodian who can respond to an accuracy or access question.
Shielded Lincoln County Mugshots
Idaho’s Clean Slate Act allows automatic shielding for certain eligible misdemeanor and infraction cases after five years from case termination, including completion of supervision, fines, and restitution. Shielding hides an eligible court record from public access but does not destroy it. That helps explain why an older public court route may disappear even though an agency once created a booking record.
Shielding is not the same as deleting every copy held by every office or publisher. The correct response depends on the source.
