Lincoln 24-Hour Release Records
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not offer a public inmate roster, booking search, released tab, or recent-release feed. There is no official URL that displays everyone released today. There is also no published refresh schedule, field list, photo flag, or archive period. That absence matters because search results can lead to counties named Lincoln in other states. Their lists do not describe Idaho custody.
The reliable same-day route begins with the Sheriff at 208-886-2250. Ask whether the recorded event was a local release or a transport, and ask which jail physically held the person. Lincoln County has documented historical use of out-of-county contract beds. The current contractor is not published. If a named contract jail performed the release, its log may carry the exact exit time while Lincoln retains the arrest and transport entries.
Check Lincoln Same-Day Releases
Start with a defined period, not the phrase “today.” A rolling 24-hour span differs from a calendar day. Record both endpoints and the time zone. Then use the custody source that fits the case. Ask for existing data or an existing export. Idaho agencies generally need not create a new list or calculate a report. Exact timestamps and a short range make the request easier to search. Booking photos should be a separate line item because no current Lincoln online photo channel or blanket disclosure rule was confirmed.
Request Lincoln Release Entries
Submit the Sheriff form by email to sheriffe-file@lincolncountyid.gov, fax to 208-886-2851, mail it to 115 W A St., Shoshone, ID 83352, or use the delivery choices stated on the form. The form states that the office will notify the requester if it cannot complete the request within three days. That language concerns request processing. It is not a promise that a 24-hour release list exists or that an internal system refreshes within three days. No fixed Sheriff fee schedule is published. Request an estimate before chargeable work and state Idaho residency truthfully.
If the request is denied in whole or part, ask for a written denial naming the exemption and responsible person. Request segregable nonexempt portions. If Lincoln identifies another custodian, preserve that response and send the second agency a focused request tied to Lincoln’s transfer date.
A practical request can ask for the release-disposition field, release authorization or order, transfer sheet, and the relevant custody-log entry. Ask for the recorded destination rather than asking an employee to explain where the person went. This keeps the request tied to records already held. If active-investigation material is withheld, the agency may still be able to separate and release nonexempt portions. Keep the response date with the records because a same-day custody status can change.
Why Lincoln Releases Disappear
Lincoln’s lack of a roster combines with an unusual custody map. An official 1993 Idaho Attorney General letter described local booking and holding followed by transport to contract beds. It named historical arrangements, but it does not prove which contractor Lincoln uses now. A departure from Shoshone could mean local release, transfer to a county jail, commitment to IDOC, or delivery under another hold.
That distinction controls the next search. If the event was transfer, the receiving jail becomes the next custody source. If it was an IDOC commitment, use the IDOC Resident/Client Search. “In custody” means state custody; “In community” means active state supervision; and “Discharged” with a date is the clearer terminal state-sentence result. None substitutes for a county physical release time.
VINE can help only when the matched result shows the correct reporting source. A VINE notice reflects that source’s status event, not a certified Lincoln log, and it cannot rule out a different hold. Note: departure from one facility can begin custody at another.
News About Lincoln Releases
The county’s community resources name the Times-News, Idaho Mountain Express, and Lincoln County Chronicle as local news sources. Reporting can preserve a public account or image after an agency page changes. It remains secondary evidence. A story may describe an arrest, hearing, or expected release without recording the precise physical exit.
