Lincoln County Release Paths
Lincoln County does not publish a conventional jail roster or recent-release feed. Its official history also cautions against assuming that the Sheriff’s Shoshone building is a full-time county jail. An Idaho Attorney General letter from 1993 described a local booking and short-term holding site followed by transport to contract jail space. The current receiving jail is not identified on the county website. That old arrangement is useful context, but it is not proof of the contractor used now.
“Released” must be read as the end of one agency’s custody. A person may return to the community after bond, recognizance, dismissal, or time served. The same field may instead record transport to a contract county jail, commitment to the Idaho Department of Correction, or delivery to another authority. Ask for the destination and receiving agency. A departure from Shoshone does not, by itself, prove the person was free to leave.
A missing name is not a release status. Lincoln has no public roster, and a person may have been released, transferred, booked under another name, or held by a contractor.
Lincoln County Release Types
The legal event and the physical exit time may differ. A judge can sign an order before staff finish other-warrant checks, property return, transport, or administrative processing. VINE can send a custody-change alert, but that message does not replace the holding facility’s dated log. Strong confirmation matches the court action with the custody, transfer, or release entry.
| Recorded event | What it means | Next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | The court authorized community release, subject to any other hold. | Sheriff or contractor log and iCourt case |
| Time served or dismissal | The named case may no longer support custody. | Release entry and all active cases or warrants |
| Transfer | One agency ended custody because another accepted the person. | Recorded destination and receiving jail |
| Released to supervision | IDOC custody changed to active parole or probation in the community. | IDOC Resident/Client Search and District 5 |
| Discharged | IDOC shows the state sentence as satisfied on the public result. | IDOC result matched to the court case |
Probation does not always follow prison, and parole is not full discharge. Probation is court-ordered community supervision. Parole is supervised community release during a state sentence. A detainer is another agency’s request or authority to take custody. “Time served” means the court credits enough confinement to satisfy the custody term in that case.
Lincoln County Release Record Fields
The Sheriff has not published a release-record field dictionary. Request existing booking, custody, transport, and release records by field rather than asking the office to create a report or explain an event. Give a full name, date of birth, short date range, and known case or incident number. This reduces false matches and helps separate a local release from a transfer.
| Field to request | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Booking, incident, or case number | Connects the custody entry to the correct event and court file. |
| Booking and release date and time | Shows agency timestamps, not merely the date of a court order. |
| Arresting and holding agencies | Identifies which offices may hold parts of the record. |
| Transfer time and destination | Distinguishes community release from movement to another jail. |
| Release disposition or authority | Records bond, court order, time served, commitment, or another maintained reason. |
| Detainer or receiving agency | Shows whether another authority assumed custody. |
| Booking photograph and property acknowledgment | Requests related records if maintained and releasable. |
Not every listed field is confirmed to exist, and no blanket rule makes every item public. Ask for segregable, nonexempt parts if some material is withheld. The release record answers the physical-custody question. The court file explains the order or judgment, while IDOC answers the later state-custody and sentence-status questions.
Request Lincoln County Release Records
The official Sheriff public-records form accepts a specific record description and requester details. It provides delivery choices by email, mail, supplied storage medium, or pickup. The form states that the office will notify the requester if it cannot complete the request within three days. It does not state a fixed fee or promise that every photograph or release field will be disclosed.
- Identify one person with a full legal name, birth date, incident date, and case or booking number when known.
- Describe existing records: booking entry, custody log, transfer sheet, physical release entry, release authority, destination, and booking photograph.
- Choose a delivery method and ask for an estimate before chargeable work. Request native electronic records when available.
- If Lincoln records a transfer, ask it to name the receiving facility for that date. Then request that facility’s acceptance and release log.
- If access is denied, request a written response naming the exemption and ask for all separable public portions.

Idaho Code sections 74-102 and 74-103 govern inspection requests and agency response. Idaho Code 74-105 addresses fees and allows certain labor and copying charges. The research supports no fixed Lincoln release-record fee, so obtain an estimate rather than assuming a price.
Correcting Lincoln County Release Records
A true error should be addressed to the agency that maintains the field. Idaho Code 74-113 provides a correction or amendment route for a record about the requester. Identify the exact record and disputed field, attach reliable support, and state the requested correction. The Attorney General’s public-records manual describes a ten-day correction or explanation period. That procedure does not guarantee the requested result.
Sealing or shielding is separate. Idaho’s Clean Slate Act can shield eligible criminal cases from public court access after its conditions are met. Shielding does not destroy the underlying record, and the sheriff, court, contractor, and IDOC may each maintain different material under different rules. A public court result that disappears is not proof that the custody record was erased.
Can the Sheriff answer why someone was released? A records office generally must provide existing records, not create a new explanation. Ask for the release-disposition field, authorization, transfer sheet, and log entry instead.
Find Lincoln County Released Inmates
Start with jurisdiction, not a broad name search. A recent Lincoln arrest points first to the Sheriff and the current contractor, once identified. A felony commitment points to IDOC. A court case can explain bond, dismissal, judgment, probation, or commitment. Federal and immigration cases require separate systems. Record the search date because portals change and some retain released results for only a short period.
- Call the Lincoln County Sheriff and ask whether the event was a local release or transfer and which facility held the person.
- Search Idaho iCourt for the order or disposition tied to custody. Match the case number and identity.
- Use the IDOC Resident/Client Search only when state custody or felony supervision may apply.
- Check VINE after confirming the source agency. Its alert shows a reported custody change, not a certified Lincoln release log.
- Use BOP or ICE only when a federal or immigration path is supported by the case or transfer record.
The Lincoln County 24-hour release route explains how to request a defined time window when no live feed exists. For sentence-date labels, the Lincoln County projected release page separates eligibility, satisfaction, and actual release.
IDOC Lincoln County Release Search
IDOC’s result list can show an IDOC number, name, birth year, and status. Observed labels include “In custody,” “In community,” “Active Bench Warrant,” and “Discharged” followed by a date. A discharged row remains searchable by name and date but does not link to satisfied conviction details. Active detail records can show sentencing county, case number, offense, supervising district, Released to Supervision, Sentence Satisfaction Date, and a Parole Eligibility Date when applicable.
| Status or field | Read it this way |
|---|---|
| In custody | The person remains under state physical custody, though placement may vary. |
| In community | Active IDOC supervision, often parole or felony probation, not full discharge. |
| Discharged with date | The public locator’s terminal state-sentence result. |
| Parole Eligibility Date | A consideration threshold, not a promised exit date. |
| Sentence Satisfaction Date | IDOC’s sentence endpoint field, subject to change and verification. |
Search by IDOC number when possible. With a name, compare birth year, middle name, sentencing county, and case number. A Lincoln County defendant who left a local jail for IDOC was transferred at the county stage, not released to the community. IDOC is the next locator because the jurisdiction changed.
The official IDOC results page illustrates how different statuses appear.

The status label must be matched to the person and court case before it is treated as proof.
Lincoln County Court Release Clues
Lincoln County’s District Court page routes users to iCourt and the local clerk. A public case can contain parties, the register of actions, charge and disposition entries, bond or release orders, judgments, probation terms, commitments, amended judgments, and satisfaction or discharge entries. Some documents require a courthouse kiosk or clerk request. Presentence reports are not ordinary public records.
Build a short chronology when dates conflict: arrest, booking, court action, transport, state admission, parole decision, physical release, supervision, and discharge. These dates describe different events. An order date may precede a jail exit, and an old parole decision may no longer describe current status after revocation or discharge.
Property and Lincoln Release Errors
The county does not publish its current release door, hours, property-return process, or transport procedure. Do not infer those details from another jail. Ask the Sheriff which agency physically released the person and which office holds any property-release acknowledgment. If a contractor performed the exit, that jail may hold the timestamp, photo, property receipt, and destination while Lincoln retains arrest and transport records.
Lincoln County also publishes a local driver’s-license office route for replacing identification documents. That resource is distinct from correcting an agency record. Use the records correction process for inaccurate custody data and the county driver’s-license office for identification services.
Lincoln County Contract Jail History
The 1993 Attorney General letter said Lincoln no longer maintained a full-time jail, booked and held people before transport, contracted with Gooding County, and anticipated use of Cassia County as space changed. It also emphasized Lincoln County’s duty to accept and transport its prisoners. This history explains why a Lincoln arrest might produce records in two counties.
It does not identify the 2026 contractor. Gooding’s current operation of a jail is not enough to prove an active Lincoln agreement. Ask which facility served the case on the relevant date. Capacity, classification, and other holds can affect placement. The historical date should remain attached whenever the document is used to interpret a present search.
Lincoln County Supervision Checks
Lincoln’s probation page draws an important local line. Its county office handles adult misdemeanor and juvenile probation, while IDOC District 5 routes felony probation and parole. The court judgment shows whether probation was ordered. An IDOC “In community” detail can identify an active state case, Released to Supervision, supervising office, and sentence satisfaction field.
A Commission grant or tentative parole date does not prove physical release. Required programming, plan approval, detainers, or later action can affect the exit. Verify the later IDOC status and, if needed, request the movement or release record. The Lincoln County probation and parole page separates the two offices and verification paths.
Lincoln Release Alerts and Registries
VINELink can search a specific person and support release or custody-change notifications for sources that participate. IDOC announced restoration of Idaho VINE service in 2024 with phone, text, email, and app notices. Lincoln jail-source coverage must still be confirmed in the live service or with the Sheriff. Search the person, inspect the named source agency, verify identity, and register only after confirming that source covers the custody at issue.
The Idaho State Police Sex Offender Registry covers only people within its statutory scope. A registry entry can show current community information and a photograph, but it is not a full release timeline. Absence from the registry says nothing about ordinary custody or release. Use it only when registry status is relevant and match the identity carefully.
Federal Lincoln County Release Records
The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal custody records from 1982 forward and may show a past release date with no current facility. That proves the end of BOP custody, not the end of supervision or another hold. A person held pretrial for the U.S. Marshals may never have a BOP locator record, so the federal docket and an appropriate records request become central.
ICE’s Online Detainee Locator can include people released from ICE custody during a limited 60-day period. Search with the A-number and country of birth when known. A Lincoln record that says transfer to ICE is the end of county custody, not proof of immigration release. BOP, ICE, and the county record each describe their own jurisdiction.
Lincoln Release Visibility Windows
Every “not found” result has a different meaning. Lincoln offers no public roster to search. IDOC retains a discharged name and date but hides satisfied conviction detail. ICE’s released-person visibility is short. BOP retains covered federal releases from 1982 forward. Court access can change after shielding. A name may also fail because of spelling, an alias, data lag, or the wrong jurisdiction.
Save the date and source of each search. Match strong identifiers such as a booking number, court case, IDOC number, BOP register number, or A-number. When a portal fails, move to the office that created the record rather than treating the blank result as a release or no-record finding.
Lincoln County Release Facility
The Facility Map supports one local page: the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office booking-and-holding facility. No separate page is warranted for the unverified contract jail. The Sheriff should identify the receiving facility for the date at issue before any contractor is named as current.
| Facility | Role | Where records may go |
|---|---|---|
| Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office booking-and-holding facility | County booking and short-term holding | Local release, current contractor, IDOC, or another receiving authority |
Call first when the physical holder is unclear. Then send narrow requests to each agency for its own acceptance, custody, transport, and release entries.
